Jennifer V. Baum, Founder and Managing Director of Peridot Marketing, loves to help business owners market their businesses and be really successful! For nearly fifteen years, Jennifer has managed marketing projects for Fortune 500 corporations, firms with small offices scattered nationwide, small businesses, and everything in between, and has an eMarketing Advanced Social Media Certification. Jennifer produces her own organic absinthe, rides horses, loves running around Lake Merritt, and has two beautiful daughters.
Currently in her fifth year as an entrepreneur, Jennifer knows what it takes to get your business on the map, keep it there, and work smarter not harder. Prior to launching Peridot Marketing, Jenn did her time in the trenches in print sales, as a color darkroom printer, and as a senior account manager responsible for overseeing numerous accounts and creative teams on a wide variety of marketing programs, both online and traditional media.
Jenn earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Jenn co-facilitates the Oakland breakfast of the National Association of Women Business Owners San Francisco Bay Area Chapter and serves on the leadership team of BNI Success Link Chapter.
Athea Merredyth has a small problem with researching photography, its history and impact on the Internet. This little habit takes over when she’s not photographing or making art with pencils & paints. These things make her interesting, but really it’s co-facilitating the WorkRoom SF with Jennifer that makes her compelling. She’s been a Bay Area resident for three years and a photographer for fifteen. She is slowly accepting the fact that she has moved from alternative to hipster not because of age but because of zip codes.
Athea studied photography at the Art Institute of Colorado and Visual Arts, Writing, and Poetics at Naropa University. When she is not working, she can be found doing something artistic and highly creative.
Why Athea and Jenn Love What They Do
Early in 2010, the two of us met through mutual friends. We quickly realized we had similar backgrounds and a love of photography and marketing. From that inital meeting, we decided to meet on a weekly basis to hold each other accountable to meet our marketing goals so we could grow our own businesses.
We both felt like the cobbler’s shoeless child – spending all our time marketing other businesses, and very little marketing our own! We found having each other to hold ourselves accountable really helped. Before we knew it, our businesses had more visibility, more visitors to our websites, and more followers on our Facebook business Pages and Twitter profiles! What were the results? More business! We both saw an increase in revenue and found it easier and easier to reach the type of ideal client we had clearly mapped out. Through these weekly meetings, we discovered that we became more focused on our businesses and easily achieved more success.
We began to wonder what would it be like if more people had this accountability to grow their businesses, save time, and earn more money? We created a fantastic system and developed a workshop. Launched in 2010, the pilot 12 week workshop with a group of business owners resulted in establishing a marketing plan while creating a community to hold each other accountable. The results were increased revenue, a growth in clients, and a marketing plan on auto pilot. We were thrilled to launch the first official Marketing Accountability Workshop with a group of professionals in January 2012. More groups are forming now, so please contact us to enroll. If you or someone you know owns a business and wants more business, please send them to the Marketing Accountability Workshop. It doesn’t matter if they have employees or if they are currently implementing their marketing plan. Everyone who runs a business could use growth through a little accountability!
